http://www.bond.org.uk/pubs/guidance/logical-fa.pdf is the BOND guidance note on logical framework analysis. It gives a good summary of the approach and practical steps on where to start. It was partly written by an old friend of Tearfund’s, Laurence Taylor, formerly tutor in development studies at Selly Oak College. This guideline also gives links to other useful sources.

http://www.ausaid.gov.au/ausguide/default.cfm is the Australian Government AusAid guideline on the Logical Framework Approach, and is a very helpful online resource, with PDF file for printing also.

http://www.adb.org/Documents/Guidelines/Logical_Framework/ is a free online version of the Asian Development Bank book on using the Logical Framework. It has a useful chapter, chapter 4, on ‘Questions often asked about the Logical Framework’.

http://ec.europa.eu/europeaid/tender/practical_guide_august2006/annexes_grants_en.htm summarises the European Commission’s requirements in terms of logical frameworks when applying for grants.

The European Commission 2001 manual on Project Cycle Management is no longer available on their website but you can download a copy here: ECHO_ProjectCycle.pdf (Copyright EuropeAid cooperation Office 2001, Belgium). This is fairly good, and is much easier to digest than the latest version of their manual (2004) which can be found at http://europa.eu.int/comm/europeaid/qsm/documents/pcm_manual_2004_en.pdf . The 2004 version does have some nice additions, for example, about nesting logframes, and a section on participation. The latest Logframe layout for the EC can be found at http://ec.europa.eu/echo/other_files/partnership/log_framework_matrix_en.doc

http://www.undp.sk/uploads/IntroductoryNotesaboutProjectCycleManagement.pdf is the UNDP PCM guide which includes a good section on evaluation.

http://www.enterprise-impact.org.uk/word-files/ProjectManagement.doc is a paraphrase of DfID’s approach to PCM and how it relates to impact assessment.

http://www-en.pcm-group.com/pcm has a nice summary of PCM by the PCM Group which is a Brussels-based commercial company, although it takes a rather top-down and sectoral approach to project identification.

http://www.techinfonet.ac.uk/InfoKits/project-management/InfoKits/infokit-related-files/logical-framework-information is another short summary of the logframe and talks about its use beyond the NGO world. It is based on work from http://www.pmsa.com.au/LogFrame2.htm

http://tilz.tearfund.org/Publications/ROOTS/Project+cycle+management.htm has PDF downloads of the Tearfund guide to project cycle management, which is a basic introduction to the main tools and approaches of PCM and logical frameworks.

http://www.micahnetwork.org/en/page/proposals-reporting has PDF and Word downloads of the Micah Network guidelines to proposal and report writing. The Proposal Guidelines include some helpful information about project planning and logical frameworks.
